Alcohol EDU & Haven

Update November 7th

Enrollment holds will be placed on 11/7/17 for students that have not completed both Part 1 AND Part 2 of Haven AND Alcohol Edu. The holds are being placed in advance of Advising Week (November 9-16) in the hopes that students will have a final opportunity to complete the trainings before enrollment begins on Wednesday, November 15th. Students who complete the training after the hold has been placed will need to wait for the hold to be automatically released. This will take up to two business days.

There is an intersession period of 1-2 days between completing Part 1 and having access to Part 2 for both AlcoholEdu. The intersession cannot be shortened. If Part 2 doesn't show up in a student's portal 36 hours or later after completing Part 1, please reach out to lyounghi@ucsc.edu for more information.

Update October 27th:

We regret that there was a problem with the Everfi system and the intersession period will not be adjusted until October 28th. Additionally, because of maintenance, the student portals which allow you to access the training will not be available until Sunday after 10pm. Students who have not yet completed Part 2 will not have access to the training until after Sunday at 10pm. Please check your portal on Monday to complete Part 2 of the training.

The training is not due until November 1. Please complete both Part 2 of Alcohol Edu and Haven as soon as possible.

Update October 10th:

If you have completed Part 1 and are waiting to complete Part 2, be patient. We will be shortening the intersession period on 10/26. Please look for an email to let you know that Part 2 is available after 10/26.

Please note, there may be a delay between the email sent by Everfi notifying you that Part 2 is available and the course showing up in your student portal. Wait at least one day after receiving the email to ask about why it may not be in your student portal.

Complete Part 2 of both Alcohol Edu and Haven as soon as they appear on your checklists to avoid any registration holds that will impact registering for courses. While the due date to complete Part 2 is 11/1, enrollment holds will not be placed until 11/6.

AIS, the operating system which controls the student portals, will be unavailable this weekend beginning Saturday, 10/28, at 12:05 AM through Sunday, 10/29, 8:00 PM, for a system upgrade. Because of this, students who are ready to take Part 2 will not be able to access the Alcohol Edu and Haven trainings over the weekend until AIS resumes operation on Sunday night. Please try again Sunday after 8 pm or Monday.

Part 1 of Alcohol Edu and Haven was due September 14th. Please complete these courses immediately if you haven't already. After completing Part 1, there is a minimum intersession period of one day. It can take up to two business days to remove enrollment holds once they have been placed. We encourage you to complete the trainings as soon as possible to avoid an enrollment hold and to prevent emergencies on your end.

Start Date for AlcoholEdu and Haven is August 22, 2017!

This page contains login directions and detailed information that students need to begin AlcoholEdu (AEdu) and Haven – two online prevention programs mandated by UCSC.

You will link to each course from your MyUCSC “to do” list. Part 1, the bulk of AEdu + exam takes 1.5 to 2 hours to finish. Haven normally can be done in 45-60 minutes. The deadline to complete Part 1 of  Alcohol Edu and Haven is September 14, 2017.

45 days after you complete Part 1, you will receive an email directing you to return to MyUCSC for 2 final surveys and a short module that take ~20 minutes. The deadline to complete Part 2 of both courses is November 1, 2017.

AlcoholEdu and Haven help students to address critical life skills associated with alcohol abuse prevention and sexual assault prevention. More than ½ million students at 500+ colleges across the country complete these courses annually. AEdu and Haven empower students to make well-informed decisions and create safe, healthy campus environments.

UCSC requires all entering freshmen and transfer students who are 24 years of age and younger on the first day of fall quarter (9/23/2017) to take AlcoholEdu and Haven.

Even if you have completed these courses at another school you still need to complete them both for UCSC.

What happens when a student does not complete AEdu and Haven? UCSC students who do not satisfy this requirement will not be able to enroll in winter quarter classes until they have finished both programs.
